We choose only organic, homegrown, or foraged ingredients. None of our ingredients have been sprayed. They are grown using sustainable farming practices and are in the purest state possible.

We source our ingredients as locally as possible by working with local farms as well as growing and foraging the plants ourselves.

All of our creations are lovingly hand crafted in Montreal, Quebec.

From harvesting the plants, to infusing their medicine into sunflower oil, to pouring the final products into their bottles and jars, Alana or Helena’s hands have taken a part in the creation of all the products.

Sustainability

Our goal is to create with the earth and our environment. That means honouring its resources, as well as our own. We do this through practicing sustainable foraging techniques, supporting and participating in organic and environmentally aware farming techniques, and producing the least amount of waste possible.

Minimal Waste

We don’t use extra boxes in the packaging of our serums or soaps, we print our soap labels on recycled paper, and we reuse old shipping boxes and bubble wrap to mail out your orders. We don’t use plastics for our packaging, other than where we must on closures or pumps. We opt for reusable materials such as glass or metal as much as possible.

Equality

We recognize that the beauty industry has been, and still is, an exclusionary space. We recognize that as white women we have largely profited from the beauty industry and its “standards”. That being said, we want Embody to be for all people, everywhere. We want people to feel empowered and love their skin, no matter the colour, sensitivities, or appearance.

As we grow, this is something that will continue to be important to us and something we will be taking into consideration during hiring processes, ambassador programs, and marketing.

Simplicity

Nothing goes into our creations that is not absolutely necessary. We don’t believe in fillers, fad ingredients, or putting in things for the sake of it.

We encourage our customers to refill their existing bottles and jars! We offer a 10% discount on refill orders. If you want to participate in our refill program, please reach out to us and let us know before you fill out your order online so we can send you a custom discount code.

Land Acknowledgement

Embody Apothecary is situated and operates out of Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal, which is the traditional lands of the Kanien’kehà:ka, of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Huron/Wendat, Abenaki, and Anishinaabeg.

We recognize that they are the traditional custodians of these beautiful lands and waters that offer us such bountiful gifts. As we grow, we aim to work more in partnership with these communities and honour their traditional methods of land stewardship.
